Sept 16th 08:00

All ready to go. 4-5 hours ahead of us. Tonight we will leave camp around midnight and go for the summit.

I'm not sure that I have the mental and physical strength to get there. Time will tell.

11:00

3 hours in feeling strong but ascent is coming.
Running low on power low on signal low on energy

13:00

We arrive at Kibo hut for lunch, I am shattered. I've nothing left in the tank. I force myself to eat the soup and chips (!) that have been prepared. Our head guide Charles tells us the plan for tonight. We will eat at 17:30 recharge water then sleep. We will be woken again at 23:30 for tea. At midnight we'll start the 14 hour round trip to the summit.

No I have to be honest here, for the first time I don't know if I can make it. I'm empty, I'm not sure how much I can give this mountain without coming away leaving more than I take home.

This is no doubt the biggest challenge I have ever faced. The mountain with her presence constantly in the background lears at me with smug satisfaction that she's winning.
