It was hard today, I felt it half way when I could have put down my poles listened to the pounding heart beat between my ears and gone to sleep. David offered me a energy pack which I gratefully accepted....10 minutes later I'm back to normal service....thank god!
Katy you'll be please to know that I am one of the few who did not get sunburn today!!!
Today was all about trekking through scrub land scrambling over rocks, it was a killer for me, there are a few with headaches so the altitude is beginning to take it's toll......

After crashing in the tent for half an hour we sit down to dinner, rice & peas, veg broth & what we think was chicken but may have been the 2 giant crows we saw en-route!
I think it's safe to say that I'm shattered & we have a 4 hour trek at 35o angle I just hope I sleep better.
19:30
Turning in for the night. Received a few texts today thank you.....please send more!
Sept 15th
I'm rough as a badgers ass this morning, not feeling good and very low. Opened the envelope from the kids in an attempt to cheer me up but in hindsight it was the wrong move and I blubbed like a baby.
Today is the test for me we ascend 600 metres in 4 hours just putting 1 foot in front of the other and eating anything put in front of me.
Missing home. I can't stop crying.

You should be really proud of what you have achieved so far Russ having not done anything like this before. All your friends back home are! Keep going.
ReplyDeleteJo was also feeling low today. She thought of you and what you said to her: ONE STEP AT A TIME. This made her feel more confident and made her feel happier. Go Russ... we are wishing you on and on! Jim
